Our Vision
The vision for our work can be summarised as follows:
- To create exciting programmes to grow the children and young people within our own church, to nurture their faith and develop life and leadership skills.
- To engage more with parents and develop activities that bring families together, both within Vine and through our community led projects.
- To continue the mission of outreach and community engagement with people of all faiths and those of none through programmes that bring children and young people together.
- To actively develop leadership skills within the young people and encourage volunteering and teamwork.
- To reach out to other youth organisations in the local area to find common ground and programmes where we can work together.
- To engage and develop projects within the United Reformed Church and East London Group of Churches to achieve our goals.
Dear Parent/Carer
The theme for this year’s Holiday Club is ‘All are Welcome’
The programme has a Christian ethos but is acceptable and appropriate for children of any faith or no faith background. Every activity will be all embracing, all inclusive varied and fun. It will include indoor and outdoor activities.
Before registering your child/children please read the following information regarding this year’s holiday club.
- The club will run from Tuesday 5th August until Friday 9th August
- Children aged between 5 and 11 are welcome (Primary school age)
- The day begins promptly at 10.00 and will finish at 15.30 (3.30) apart from on Friday when parents are invited to attend at 2pm for a presentation by the children to their parents. Please ensure that your child/children arrive on time and are collected promptly. Please state on the registration form the name/s of the person/s who will be collecting your child. If this information changes please let us know as soon as possible
- All children will be offered a vegetarian lunch for example filled rolls or pasta crisps a biscuit and fruit and mid morning and afternoon drinks and snacks. If your child would prefer to bring a packed lunch please indicate in the form. Please DO NOT INCLUDE NUTS
- All children must bring a water bottle with them which we will refill with tap water. Other drinks will be available.
- There will be a set of ground rules which the children will be made familiar with. If a child behaves against these rules a leader will speak with him/her and if it persist the parent/carer will be contacted to discuss this matter.
- It is important that you indicate on the registration form any needs relating to HEALTH, MEDICATION, LEARNING DIFFICULTIES or BEHAVIOURAL issues that might be appropriate for us to know. If your child needs someone to support them most or all of the time a CARER will need to be with them.
- Please do not register your child if he/she cannot attend for all of the days as this denies another child a place.
- The cost will be £20 for the 4 days. Payment is required before confirming a space for your child. We do not want any child to be excluded and understand that some families may have financial difficulties. If this is the case please speak to us before registering.
We follow good practice in health, safety and safeguarding. All leaders will have up-to-date DBS checks
Format of the day
When the children arrive they will register and go into the main church after saying goodbye to their parent/carer, here they play/have communal games. After this we will have some together time with introductions, songs and a story. The younger children 5 -8 yrs the explorers will stay in the church and the 8 -11yrs the adventurers will move to the hall for activities which may include crafts, cooking or thinking about wildlife! In the afternoon there will be further activities including games, painting and crafts.
On Thursday we will have a day’s outing to the forest garden in Valentines Park. All children to bring a packed lunch.
As you can imagine, the programme costs a lost more than the registration fee and we would like to thank Vine Church for the free use of the buildings and gardens and thank the church and community volunteers who give up their time freely.
We are looking forward to meeting you all.
